WHO WE ARE

 
   Over the years, MJWC has promoted a strong tradition of community involvement with dedicated efforts toward environmental enrichment.  The Club's departments and some of their more visible accomplishments are as follows:

   Arts
:  Concerned with activities featuring visual, performing, and manual art form.  Past Projects:  Club members attended art exhibits, wine expos, etc., Concerts in the Park, WGBH Gift Basket, Craft Nights

   Conservation
:  Responsible for club involvement in community beautification, energy uses, waste disposal, and environmental action.  Past Projects:  Spring Plant Sale, Poinsettia Sale, Donation of shrubs and spring flowering bulbs to schools, Bottle Drive, Curbside Recycling Program

   Education:  Maintains club participation in community educational issues, leadership development, and school priorities.  Past Projects:  Donation of Books, Donation to Preschools, Teacher Wish Lists, Donations to Media Centers

   Home Life:  Charged with implementing GFWC policies toward spiritual growth, ethics, child welfare, home finances, health, and geriatrics.  Past Projects:  Food Pantry, Head Start Donation, Blood Drive, Santa Visits, Thanksgiving Baskets

   Hospitality:  Responsible for assembling refreshments at general meetings and for coordinating "sunshine meals."

   International Affairs:  Involved in relationships among ourselves and other nations.  Past Projects:  Blanket Drive for Romanian Children's Relief Fund, UNICEF, Armenian Milk Fund, Operation Smile

   Newsletter:  Responsible for publishing and distributing a monthly correspondence to the membership containing club activities and Federation issues.

   Parliamentarian:  Oversees Robert's Rules of Order during club meetings (as they apply to the club and are consistent with the by-laws).

   Public Affairs:  Focuses attention in citizenship, crime reduction, safety, veteran's services, and women's issues.  Past Projects:  Police Bears, Toys for Tots, Make a Difference Day

   Publicity:  Responsible for getting the word to the public on all club activities, handling press releases, and advertising club events.

   Scholarship:  Responsible for distributing scholarship information to local schools and for overseeing the selection of scholarship recipients.

   Telephone Tree:  Keeps members informed of sudden changes in club schedules and activities.

   Ways and Means:  The department responsible for coordinating club fundraising projects.  We need a Ways and Means Coordinator, as well as chairwomen for the following fundraising projects:  Mendon Fair, Las Vegas Night, Valentine's Dance, Easter Egg Hunt
