The
Milford Junior Woman's Club was established in 1973. It is comprised of a
diverse group of women from Milford and surrounding towns. Each member of
the MJWC brings a unique perspective on the world, and an individual life
experience that enhances the capabilities of the organization. The time
and talents so generously given by the women of this club can best be
measured in the benefits reaped by the community it serves. Although the major thrust of the MJWC is as a local service organization, occasionally the membership sets aside its social conscience in favor of some socializing. For example, each year the club gets into the spirit of the holiday season through the secret exchange of gifts and a gala holiday party. Also, in past years the club has held game nights, shopping trips and parties for our children. The club year officially begins with the formal installation of officers in May. The General Membership meets monthly on the third Thursday of every month, except July and August. The Officers and Executive Board also meet on the first Tuesday of the month at alternating members' homes. New members are installed throughout the year, and prospective members are treated to an Open House periodically when the club invites the public to learn more about the organization. The MJWC is a member of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs of Massachusetts, Southern Division. To learn more about the GFWC, please visit their web site at www.gfwc.org.
